The brand logo is inspired by the idea of tranquility, balance and flow. These concepts are put together to form the logo’s elements emphasing on movement and imperfections.
The logo typeface is a sans-serif font with soft thick & thin strokes with rounded ascenders which I feel has an elegant feel of movement and a good representative of “flow”. The abstract logo mark is inspired by organic shapes, the idea of flow, the concept of balance and imperfections through the reference of the Chinese yin-yang symbol.
Circle and rounded elements wrapped around the iconic Singapore Changi Airport control tower, represents all-rounder services catering to passengers all around the world.
With the requirements of not wanting common corporate colours like red and blue. The design is a minimalist styled direction with soft colours aiming towards luxury, trust
and relaxation which the company itself wants to achieve.
Typography
Posters
Topic: Racial inequality - social issue.
After reading articles and doing research on
topics about racism in Singapore and racial equality,I created a typographic poster playing with components like shape, size, space, and colour. I want to emphasize on the importance of having racial equality in Singapore and how people need to put words into action and always remember being a majority or minority, we need to have mutual respect and carry onwards a harmonious society.
Title: Amoeba
Amoeba is a type I've designed towards sci-fi horror-mystery. It is also partially inspired by certain characteristics of a person. This is a display font and the font design itself has intricate strokes and linings. The curves and points are what makes the type unique and fun.
Zine
Topic: Racial inequality - social issue II.
Shinning light on subtle racism in Singapore.
In continuation of the topic, I also realized racial inequalities
and stereotyping leads to subtle social division.
The majority of the population would see themselves as
accepting, however racism is still an issue. There are laws
against racism in Singapore, but there are still underlying factors
which allowed room for casual racism to grow and exist.
Events
IIW 73rd - Annual conference event.
An international event held annually, in 2020 it’s being held in Singapore. The objective of this design is
to promote Singapore, hence the use of the iconic Marina Bay Sands skyline together aligned with the creation
of a unique logo encapsulating elements representing Singapore.
